With the first season of Gotham unleashing a horde of villains upon the beleaguered city, plans are afoot for even more classic Batman rogues to show up in season two.
That's according to executive producer John Stephens, who sat down with the press at WonderCon 2015 this past weekend to discuss the final episodes of the show's debut run and what we might look forward to next season.
With early versions of the Penguin, the Riddler, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, Red Hood, Victor Zsasz, Dollmaker and even lesser names like the Electrocutioner and Copperhead all making appearances in season one (not to mention a very strong candidate for the Joker), Stephens was asked if there was a list of potential antagonists we might see next fall:
"We used a lot of villains in season one -- maybe too many, perhaps -- and we don't want to burn through too many villains, because we really want to bring them in and develop them slowly when they come in. Like, I would love to find a way to do a Killer Croc story and we're going to do a Hugo Strange story, obviously, at some point. But we also want to revisit some of the characters we've had on before, like the Jonathan Cranes and what have you. I would say we have like a half dozen we're looking to bring out in the next year and a half."
Stephens did add, however, that there is at least one nemesis that won't make the cut:
"There's some you're never going to see -- you're never going to see Man-Bat. That one might break the reality of the show we've established."
Hopefully, you Kirk Langstrom fans out there won't be too disappointed about that, but in the meantime, Stephens also teased at the show's WonderCon panel (via Collider) that Mr. Freeze, the Mad Hatter and Clayface are likely to show up next year, and that the producers have even considered incorporating the more recent Court of Owls secret society from the comics. And don't forget, we're also likely to see Edward Nygma become the Riddler and someone (likely the creepy Jerome) emerge as the Joker.
Who else would you like to see join the Gotham rogues gallery next year?
