We finally have a date for the return of Gotham: The "Batman before Batman" Fox series comes back for the last half of its fourth season on Thursday, March 1.
The network has released a new teaser for the second half of the season, and it includes a look at the new Ivy Pepper, played by Peyton List (The Flash, Frequency). And boy does young Bruce Wayne seem surprised by this turn of events.
This is not the first new Ivy Pepper to grace Gotham. In the first two seasons, Ivy was portrayed by young actress Clare Foley, making her roughly the same age as contemporaries Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. In Season 3, she transforms into a beautiful young woman in her 20s (played by Maggie Geha), thanks to the magic touch of Fish Mooney's friend, Marv.
As we learned from a press release in October: “In the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy's origin story, Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again, taking another step toward becoming the Ivy we know from the comics. Dangerous. A live wire of crazy energy. She'll set her sights on Gotham, intent on making the city her own green paradise.”
The teaser also gives us a good look at Jerome (Cameron Monaghan), who we now know is definitely not the Joker -- even though he throws down a joker playing card. The joker card does suggest that we will meet the real Joker before the end of the season, though.
Also sure to send nerds into a tizzy is what appear to be hints toward Bruce's transformation into Batman. There is definitely a scene in the promo in which someone is standing in a cave, wearing a cape. It could be anything from a dream sequence, to another mysterious villain, to Bruce Wayne donning the cape and cowl. March can't come soon enough.
Gotham returns for the back half of Season 4 on Thursday, March 1, at 8 p.m. ET. What are you hoping to see?
