Fox and Marvel’s untitled X-Men pilot just added a Once Upon a Time and Gotham star in the role of an established comic book character with the power of teleportation. Can you guess who it is? (Hint: It's not Nightcrawler.)
Jamie Chung has joined the cast as a series regular in the role of Blink, a teleporting mutant who made her live-action debut on the big screen in X-Men: Days of Future Past (played by Chinese actress Fan Bingbing). Remember that opening fight scene between the X-Men and the Sentinels? That one right there? Check it out in all its 4K Ultra HD glory ...
The Fox series that's said to be set in the X-Men film universe hails from Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and Bryan Singer, following two ordinary parents who, upon discovering their kids are mutants, are forced to go on the run from a hostile government. Eventually, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
According to Marvel, Chung will star as Clarice Fong, aka Blink, who is described as a "sarcastic and lively tomboy. Clarice's naturally strong exuberance has taken a hit after a sudden and traumatic upheaval of her life. As she adjusts to the new people and places that are suddenly 'home,' Clarice is slowly becoming herself again."
The actress joins the previously announced Blair Redford (Satisfaction), who has been cast as fellow mutant Sam, the "strong-headed leader of the underground network."
Like Noah Hawley's Legion currently airing on FX, the Untitled Fox Marvel Project is a co-production between 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel TV. Matt Nix will pen the script and executive produce with the X-Men dream team of Bryan Singer (who will also direct the pilot), Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg, alongside Marvel Head of TV Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory (Daredevil).
What do you think of the addition of Jamie Chung as Blink?
