NBC's Grimm is headed for an enormous cliffhanger tonight that will challenge every major character, and one of those characters may die, said actress Bree Turner, who plays Rosalee on the series.
“Every storyline gets blown out and exposed, resolved, challenged, you know,” said Turner during a conference call with journalists. “Someone's life is definitely in balance, and it's very, very, very scary to be this person, I will say,” said Turner. “And I honestly don't know how we're going to resolve it in terms of storyline. I'm nervous and excited about how season three is going to begin with this cliffhanger, because it's pretty major.”
On tonight's finale, “Goodnight, Sweet Grimm,” Nick fights some nasty “undead” folks as Juliette joins him for her first Wesen investigation. Meanwhile, Captain Renard's brother hits town to cause some trouble as well. James Frain guest-stars.
“Just the level of production value in this finale, I mean, it's like feature-film-quality stuff that we did in terms of effects and story and set and ... environment. I mean, it was all just really at the top of our game, I felt. We were all chomping at the bit to start production on this last one,” said Turner.
This seaon the fantasy series has delved deeply into Nick and Monroe's romantic lives, bringing Juliette and Rosalee to the forefront of the action.
As for the future of Rosalee's sweet romance with Monroe, or their Monroe-mance … well, Turner admits not everything can have a happy ending. “It's Grimm, you know. People don't stay happy very long on this show. And the Rosalee/Monroe romance has had such a beautiful journey this season that, I mean, let's be real. Only complications are coming,” she said.
While Rosalee was shipped off to help a sick relative through some of the season due to Turner's real-life pregnancy and the birth of her son, she's been thrilled to “play the light this year,” rather than the darker aspects of her character. Rosalee has become a powerful apothecary and an important resource for Nick.
Turner is also excited that she's been able to get more involved in the action. “In the finale, yes, I, Rosalee, get more physically involved for sure in what we're dealing with. And I'm excited about doing a lot more of that in the future.
“Now, in terms of season three, who knows? I think it would be fun to let some skeletons out of the closet a little bit,” said Turner.
That is assuming she has a future and that she's not the character that might die. “Hey, yeah, exactly. Exactly. Who knows if I'll be around? Yeah. If I am, that would be fun to explore,” she said.
