Preacher fans will likely be singing "Hallelujah" after this news: Seth Rogen announced today via Twitter that the show will return for a third season on AMC.
Rogen is a co-producer on the show along with Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin. The TV series is based on the Vertigo comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, which ran from 1995-2000.
The TV series, which wrapped Season 2 in September, follows Jesse Custer, a small-town preacher with a criminal past who accidentally ingests the word of god, making him able to command people to do his bidding. When angels come to retrieve the word of god, Jesse and his on-again, off-again girlfriend Tulip, and a vampire named Cassidy, go looking for God to seek his help. Dominic Cooper (Captain America: First Avenger, Warcraft) plays Jesse; Ruth Negga (Warcraft, Agents of SHIELD) stars as Tulip; and Joseph Gilgun (The Last Witch Hunter) plays Cassidy.
There is no release date for Season 3 of Preacher besides the very general 2018, but if it follows the same pattern as the first two seasons, it will likely be released in late summer.
