With all the buzz about the original cast coming back for Star Wars: Episode VII, we still don’t actually have any official confirmation. But now Han Solo himself has addressed all the rumors.
In an interview with WGN, Harrison Ford was asked about his potential return as everyone’s favorite smuggler with a heart of gold. He wouldn’t completely confirm his return, but let’s just say if you’re “looking forward” to something, it’s pretty likely you’ll be doing it.
Here’s his comment:
“I think it’s almost true. I’m looking forward to it. It’s not in the bag yet, but I think it’s happening.”
It’s nice to see the cast actually tackle the rumors now, as opposed to reports from the Lucasfilm side saying it’s going to happen. I’m sure George Lucas is in the loop, but it’s nice to hear it from Ford that he really is interested.
Combine this story with the recent comments from Carrie Fisher, and all we need is Mark Hamill to open up and we’ll know the trio is essentially covered. This news makes it a near-certainty that the sequel will focus on the younger generation of Solos and Skywalkers as previously rumored, and having the old gang back together is a perfect way to pass the torch.
Are you glad to hear that Han Solo will be back kicking ass and taking names in a few years?
