Merlin's beard! If you're a fan of Harry Potter's wizarding world and have found that Potter passion lacking on your mobile device, well, there is some great news for you.

Pottermore announced today that development has already begun on a new mobile game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The game will use "augmented reality technology" to bring the wizarding world to life like never before, with players being able to "view the real world through a wizarding world lens."

According to the site, the game "encourages you to step outside with your phone, explore your local surroundings and take part in a series of adventures, such as searching for magical creatures and bumping into iconic wizarding world characters along the way. You’ll also be able to cast spells, discover mysterious artefacts, and build up your very own, illustrious wizarding career."

Will this game inspire digital Dumbledore seeking mobs to pop up at all hours, like Pokemon Go did a few years ago? You might want to start bracing for it.

The game will come from the combined forces of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Niantic Inc., a company that "builds real-world experiences for mobile games." It is the first in a new line of mobile and console games that Warner. Bros. Interactive Entertainment is producing for Potter fans, all under the new banner of Portkey Games.

With the tried-and-true Harry Potter: Spells app no longer being supported on iOS, this game will be a welcome addition on any witch or wizard's phone. The mobile game based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is fun, but this just seems like it has so much more potential. There's no release date yet, but more information is promised for 2018, so we'll have more news on this new age of Potter gaming as it comes. In the meantime, we'd like to close by writing a few words. Those words are: nifwit, blubber, oddment, tweak.
