The cast for Fox’s upcoming Lucifer TV series is shaping up nicely, as Chicago Fire’s Lauren German has just been cast in the role of Chloe Dancer, whom Deadline describes as an “LAPD homicide detective who finds herself both repulsed and fascinated by Lucifer. As they work together to solve a murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Used to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer begins to wonder if there’s hope yet.”
The Prince of Darkness himself will be played by Once Upon a Time’s former Prince of Thieves, Welsh actor Tom Ellis (Rush). Bored and unhappy with his being the Lord of Hell and all, Lucifer abandons his fire-and-brimstone kingdom to head to Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive bar called Lux. The series underwent a few changes recently, going down the police procedural yellow brick road, with the Fallen Angel now getting his fun on by helping the LAPD punish the bad guys, which also apparently involves solving a murder or two with Detective Dancer.
Lina Esco (Cane, Heroes: Destiny) also recently joined the cast as Lucifer’s best friend, Maze, who is described as “a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman.” She is most probably Mazikeen from the comics, who accompany Lucifer to the City of Angels, becoming one of the Lux staff.
This snappy take on the biblical character of Lucifer first appeared in the pages of Neil Gaiman’s Vertigo comic series The Sandman. The pilot will be helmed by Len Wiseman of Underworld fame. He’ll also executive-produce along with Tom Kapinos, Jerry Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman.
What do you think of the cast of Lucifer so far? Will you be looking forward to Fox's new comic book TV series?
