All we really know about the upcoming Heroes Reborn miniseries is that it’s apparently happening, but now one original star has revealed she will apparently not be back for the revival.
No casting info has been revealed about the 13-episode miniseries, which will be produced by series creator Tim Kring, but Hayden Panettiere recently told Cosmopolitan that she has not been contacted about the new run — and apparently only heard about it secondhand from a family member.
Panettiere was a breakout star from the original series, playing Claire Bennet and the titular role in the “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World” storyline that spawned a fleeting catchphrase in the mid-2000s. Here’s what Panettiere had to say:
“Well, it was a shock to me, and, in fact, I believe I became privy to that through my cousin. She sent me a text message and told me about it, and, I mean, we had nothing, nothing to do with it; it will definitely be interesting to see how they reinvent that.
I think it’s a whole new set of characters. Who knows? It’s a little bit of an interesting feeling because you go, ‘That was our show, our home, our family,’ something that we had a major part in creating as well, and, I mean, I hope that they don’t have somebody else playing our characters, that would be a little dagger in the heart. But, you never know. I wish them success in it, for sure.”
If Panettiere is out, it seems to indicate Kring might be going in a brand-new direction with the revival, or at least keying in on a smaller amount of original players to combine with a new cast.
Will you miss Claire when this new Heroes run rolls around in 2015?
