We may have to wait more than two years to see Ben Affleck in action in his Batman costume, but Jennifer Garner is luckier than us.
Garner -- who has some experience with superhero outfits herself, having played Elektra opposite Affleck's Daredevil -- was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards over the weekend and was asked if she had seen her husband in his Batsuit for the upcoming Batman/Superman movie. Her response:
”I’ve seen the suit. The suit is unbelievably cool. It’s a total reinvention. It looks great.”
Garner, naturally, didn't exactly proceed to describe Affleck's outfit in painstaking detail, but the word we hear around the Web is that Affleck's uniform will differ significantly from the ones worn by Christian Bale, Val Kilmer, George Clooney and Michael Keaton in previous Batfilms.
How different will it be? Affleck's longtime pal Kevin Smith claims to have seen his friend in the suit as well, and here's what he said on his podcast a few months ago:
"You have not seen this costume in a movie, on film before. For a comic book fan, it was mind-bending...Because every other movie has done this Matrix-y black armor thing… There wasn’t a single nipple on this f***ing suit man...I think everyone is just gonna be like ‘Holy s***!’ It’s its own thing, man. We haven’t been down this path before."
Unfortunately, the rest of us, who are not married to Ben Affleck or good friends with him, will have to wait until May 6, 2016, to see what he looks like as Batman, since the film was just bumped from its original July 17, 2015, release date. Do you have some ideas on what kind of Batsuit you'd like to see this time? Let us know below after you watch the somewhat fuzzy video of Garner's interview.
