Yesterday, the Internet was set ablaze when a story over at The Hollywood Reporter claimed that a modern reboot of Xena: Warrior Princess from original producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi was in the works at NBC, and that they were looking for Xena herself, Lucy Lawless, "to have both a role on screen and behind the scenes."

Fresh off a stint on WGN America's horror TV series Salem, the Ash vs. Evil Dead (which is set to premiere in the fall on Starz) actress followed this bit of stunning news with this tweet:

Sorry, friends! news of a #Xena reboot is just a rumor. I'd love it to happen one day but it's still in the wishful thinking stage.

Before everyone gets their knickers all in a twist, and as the good folks over at Comicbook.com have pointed out, don’t forget that the Hollywood Reporter is generally an extremely reliable news site and that 1) they claim to have multiple sources supporting this news and 2) that they also said that it was in the "extremely early development" stage. Which in turn could mean that Lawless (who recently revealed that she had pitched a Xena TV movie) herself may not have been notified of this project through official channels yet ... although you'd think, being married to Tapert, she might have the inside scoop.

What do you guys think?
