Director James Mangold has played it pretty close to the vest with his upcoming Wolverine film, but now we finally know when we’ll get to see some footage.
The first teaser trailer, which should contain some actual footage from the X-Men spinoff, will reportedly be attached to the front of the oft-delayed G.I. Joe: Retaliation once it opens on March 29.
Considering the negative buzz that’s still hovering around the G.I. Joe sequel after the studio pushed it to allow a 3D conversion and some minor reshoots, it’s a smart move to attach such a major trailer debut. This should help attract some of the comic book audience that might’ve been turned off by the cheesy tone of the first G.I. Joe film, which fits the semi-reboot approach with a bit of a darker tone.
Mangold all but confirmed the timing via Twitter, and responded to some fans who are upset to wait this long for a first look:
Tell me you think we're lame after you see the teaser. At least then you will be critiquing images from the film, not a marketing window.— James Mangold (@mang0ld) February 11, 2013
From end of March till release, you'll be saturated. Relax, yuk. I've never found the coolest people are the first to arrive at a party.— James Mangold (@mang0ld) February 11, 2013
Wolverine opens July 26. Do you think it can wash away the bad memories left behind by X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
