Don Coscarelli's Phantasm franchise has delivered a sufficient dose of horror-flick delirium over the decades, and a major part of the films' cult status is the long-legged extraterrestrial mortician played so perfectly by the late Angus Scrimm. The Kansas-born actor passed away in January at the age of 89 after finishing his final work in the fifth installment of the supernatural series, Phantasm: Ravager, which was released on Oct. 7.
Check out this preview of Journey to Ravager, a moving Phantasm tribute video that played prior to special screenings of Phantasm Remastered and Phantasm: Ravager last week at Durham, NC’s Carolina Theatre. It's a poignant tribute to Scrimm and the majestic malevolence of his eerie Tall Man, courtesy of YouTuber dustincomplete. Stride on in and tell us if Phantasm deserves its place in the pantheon of horror classics.
