Some new casting details have trickled out about Damon Lindelof’s mysterious film Tomorrowland, formerly known by the working title 1952. So who will be the baddie in this super-secret Disney sci-fi flick?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hugh Laurie is close to signing on for the role. Laurie is best known for playing the Sherlock Holmes-esque title character on the long-running Fox medical drama House. He was also attached to co-star in the new Robocop for a while, but dropped out.
So who could Laurie be playing? We have no idea. But he’ll apparently be a thorn in the side of the film’s top-billed star, George Clooney. If nothing else, we can add one more layer to the mystery that is Tomorrowland.
The film, inspired by a mysterious box unearthed from the Disney vaults, was written by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and is being directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles). The plot hasn’t been revealed, but the project has been compared to Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The film is rumored to include aliens in some way, but that’s all just conjecture at the moment.
Laurie’s casting is inspired as a baddie, and his demeanor is perfect for a layered and creepy antagonist. Do you think he’ll be a good fit?
