There's a lot to look forward to when it comes to Avengers: Age of Ultron, from the new characters to the setup for Captain America: Civil War to the development of one of comics' greatest villains, but there's one particular moment many fans have been anticipating more than any other: The battle between a Hulked-out Bruce Banner and Tony Stark equipped with his "Hulkbuster" armor. After becoming Science Bros, the two Avengers are set to be science belligerents in the upcoming Marvel Studios film, and after plenty of trailer shots teasing the fight, we finally have a full clip in which it comes to life.
Much of the Age of Ultron cast was on hand at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday to honor Robert Downey Jr. with a "Generation Award," and the evening also provided us with the very first clip from the film. As luck would have it, that clip happens to feature the centerpiece "Hulk vs. Hulkbuster" battle, so even as we still have to wait for the clock to tick down to the film's May 1 premiere, we get to enjoy this sequence's opening moments.
We've known ever since the movie's first trailer that this battle would take place, but this clip makes it clear that it seems to be the fault of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who's gotten into Hulk's head. Stark, for his part, is well prepared for this particular eventuality. He even has an eye in the sky to help him out, and plenty of banter to back everything up. The scene's not all quirks, though. It also makes it clear that these two men have a significant bond, and that Stark isn't happy that he has to subdue his friend's "Other Guy" form. There's a tension here that comes not from who will win the fight, but from how this relationship will weather this storm, and that makes everything click on a level it might not otherwise.
