With massive alien invasion and space saga gaming franchises like Halo, Mass Effect, and Destiny dominating the sci-fi video game universe, it's refreshing to see a new immersive title that involves your creativity, intuition, and imagination.
Check out this breathtaking teaser for Shape of the World, an artsy new open-world exploratory offering from the folks at Hollow Tree Games.
The Vancouver-based developer initiated this stimulating project using a Kickstarter campaign back in 2015 and quickly blew past their funding goals. It's similar in style to enigmatic exploration diversions like Journey, Abzu, The Solus Project, or the poetical puzzle game The Witness.
Here's the official description:
Shape of the World is an exploration game about getting yourself pleasantly lost. It will take you on a journey through through an environment of evolving landscapes, flourishing plants and graceful creatures, a world that literally bursts into life before your eyes.
Every step you take will leave a trace on the environment you’re exploring. The forest only materializes around you when you get close, regrowing in a new way each time you pass. As you wander, interacting with graceful animals and imposing monoliths, your choices will alter the world you discover in vibrant and unexpected ways, leaving you wondering what will happen with each path you forge and every hollow you stumble upon.
Wander into this absorbing new trailer for Shape of the World and tell us if you think it might be a digital frontier you'd love to get lost in for several hours. This trippy, involving video game is targeting an early 2018 release and should be available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.
