On this day exactly 25 years ago, a group of superstar comic artists made history when they bailed on the big superhero publishers where they'd made their names and decided to strike out on their own.
That’s right, today, Image Comics turns a quarter-century old, and they've come a long way since the days of Spawn and Youngblood. Growing out of their quintessentially '90s superhero beginnings, Image has become the premiere publisher in comics for creators to take all of the ideas that they want to own themselves.
To celebrate, Image Comics titles in February will be sporting variant covers that homage iconic Image covers of days past. That means Kill or Be Killed paying tribute to The Walking Dead, God Country riffing Savage Dragon, The Wicked + The Divine spoofing Sex Criminals, Sex Criminals returning the favor, and many more!
