A whole lot of Valiant projects are barreling into film development deals, and now another property is being turned into a live-action series — and we already have a first look.
Screen Crush reports the comic publisher has been quietly working to adapt Ninjak into a live-action digital series, which will follow Ninjak as he goes “head-to-head with a top-secret roster of Valiant’s most iconic heroes for a bloodstained battle royale.” The project will feature Michael Rowe (Arrow) in the title role, which is an excellent choice. Rowe positively killed it as the small-screen Deadshot, and it’s great to see him land another comic role.
He’ll be joined by a supporting cast comprised of Kevin Porter (Dodgeball), Ciera Foster (Straight Outta Compton), Jason David Frank (Power Rangers), John Morrison (Lucha Underground), Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) and Chantelle Barry (Entourage).
In a prepared statement, Valiant CEO & Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani said the project will essentially kickstart the publisher’s wider ambitions for its superhero lineup. Here’s an excerpt:
“We’ve set out to make the best and most ambitious series ever produced in the digital space – one that will live up to the high standards we’ve set in publishing. As Valiant gears up for an upcoming slate of film, television and video game releases, we felt the timing was right to begin to produce live-action digital content that would both give ours fans an experience truly worthy of the Valiant Universe.”
The studio has apparently been working on the series since 2015, and they plan to debut a whole lot more information next weekend at New York Comic-Con. So stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy a first look at Rowe in costume below:
