Outlander fans have been waiting forever to finally gaze upon Roger Wakefield and Brianna Randall on Starz's critically acclaimed time-travel series and now, that time is here! Get ready to meet Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) when the Season 2 finale rolls around and, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have our first look at the two of them.
Brianna is Claire (Caitriona Blafe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) daughter, who was actually raised in America by Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) -- it's all very timey-wimey -- while Roger is the adopted son of Reverend Wakefield (James Fleet) and Brianna’s future love interest. They are the second power couple behind Jamie and Claire in author Diana Gabaldon's book series. Have a look:
The two actors spoke of their character’s debut in the finale, with Richard Rankin saying “There is so much anticipation for these characters. I really think what we care most about is whether people are going to be happy with these characters that they’ve been waiting two years for.”
“There’s been this buildup for so long,” said Sophie Skelton, adding “It’s a scary thought because of things like the fact that Brianna’s from Boston, but we decided not to go with a Boston accent. We just assumed that given how she was raised in a private Catholic school in the ’60s, she sort of had any Boston drummed out of her and she’d be a standard American. And then there are things like the eye color. I think people are expecting [her to wear] contacts because Bri’s eyes are blue [in the books]. Everybody will have a different view.”
What do you think? The Season 2 finale of Outlander is set to air on July 9.
