While Christmas is mostly about happy images of reindeer and sleighbells and snow, Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien: Covenant is all about dark dread and lurking fear. Unless we're talking about you opening Aunt Edna's annual mystery gift. To remind fans that a new trailer is looming just down the hallway, here's a spooky new photo released by 20th Century Fox of the ominous interior of an Engineers' starship.
The ribbed passage is familiar to audiences around the globe, and I doubt that anyone who's ever inched down this alien alleyway has found a basket of sugarplums or peppermint mocha waiting at the end. The studio is also teasing the first trailer drop with cryptic countdown numbers, the most recent being “185612082104,” which some genius theorized was a figure written in microseconds, and another number-cruncher postulated that it was the time in the Azores Islands, meaning that a fresh trailer could drop Christmas Eve, with a teaser potentially landing tonight! It remains a puzzlement at this point, but I shall remain vigilant and keep you posted.
I'll dispense with the boredom of the repetitive cast roll call and official synopsis if you don't mind, because if you're unaware at this point that a new Alien movie is near, then you deserve to be devoured by eight antlered xenomorphs pulling a festive sled filled will canisters of black goo. Have a peek and Happy Holidays!
Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant erupts into theaters on May 19, 2017.
