Following our first full look at Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa on the upcoming Power Rangers movie, now comes our first sneak peek at the team’s faithful robotic assistant, Alpha 5 (or simply Alpha for short). Ai yi yi yi yi yi yi!!!

It's SNL's Bill Hader (who was also a vocal consultant for BB-8 on Star Wars: The Force Awakens) who has been tasked with bringing the rangers’ faithful assistant to life. In the original TV series, Alpha often acted as a second mentor to the team of young rangers under the sage tutelage of Zordon of Eltar, played by Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Godzilla) in the upcoming film.

The revamped "organic" look of the character jibes with what we’ve seen so far of the new costumes. However, I’m not so sure about the whole antennae-eyes thingy. They just feel out of place (maybe it's because he didn't have them in the original series: see the pic above). Hmm, maybe it’ll look better on screen? Have a look at the concept art below, and let us know what you think.

Directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) from a screenplay by John Gatins (Real Steel), Power Rangers will blast onto movie theaters on March 24, 2017.
