The acclaimed anime Fullmetal Alchemist is coming to the big screen, and now we have our first look at Ed and Al in action.
The Japanese production is being directed by Fumihiko Sori, and aims to adapt the beloved series about a world where alchemy is the most advanced science around. It follows two alchemist brothers named Edward and Alphonse, who are searching for the philosopher's stone to restore their bodies after an unsuccessful attempt to bring their mother back to life.
The first photos look to show Ed and Al, standing against a steampunk-y backdrop. Sori certainly seems to be doing a solid job of capturing the vibe of the anime, at least based on the two shots here. The film stars Ryōsuke Yamada, Tsubasa Honda, Dean Fujioka, and Fumiyo Kohinata.
Fullmetal Alchemist premieres in Japan in December 2017. No word yet on a U.S. release.
