A long-awaited Hollywood sequel can always go either way with fans. It could be a worthy follow-up to the first movie, building on the established themes and relationships, or it could be a dud, owing to the fact that it's a lazy cash grab, simply meant to play on a person's nostalgia. There's also the possibility that so much time has passed that folks are no longer invested in the property (*cough* Avatar *cough*).
Luckily, you don't have to worry about a lackluster movie in the form of Incredibles 2, a sequel 14 long years in the making. The latest Pixar offering enjoyed its Los Angeles premiere last night, and attendees are raving about how awesome it is, particularly a scene-stealing Jack-Jack, who is described as "hilarious" and "the real MVP." One person even called the movie "Pixar’s best sequel since TOY STORY 3."
This shouldn't come as a total surprise, since writer-director Brad Bird is known for his animation prowess, evidenced by The Iron Giant and Ratatouille. His live-action debut with 2011's Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol was equally amazing, although Tomorrowland left something to be desired. In any case, Incredibles 2 is being hailed as a more-than-capable successor to the first film and one of the best cinematic experiences of the summer, with a bomb soundtrack from the always-amazing Michael Giacchino.
