Johnny Depp was on hand during Jimmy Kimmel Live! late last week to debut an exciting new clip for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning (the Norwegian duo who helmed the inspirational Kon-Tiki), the fifth entry in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise stars Depp, Javier Bardem, Kevin R. McNally, Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, Golshifteh Farahani, David Wenham, Stephen Graham and Geoffrey Rush. The movie will also see the return of Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann.
The brief sneak peek features a face-to-face between Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar — the villain of the piece (obviously) — and everyone’s favorite pirate captain this side of the cinematic Seven Seas: Jack Sparrow. Also in the video below, Depp spoke about his recent stint at Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride, where he hilariously surprised a bunch of lucky people with a live-action performance as an animatronic Jack Sparrow! Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sails into movie theaters on May 26. Check out the video below, and let us know what you think.
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all new Pirates movie. The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifull small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.
