Shane Black's The Predator has just added Shut In and Room actor Jacob Tremblay.
With production on the reboot set to kick off next month in Vancouver, the totally adorable and talented young actor is joining a stellar cast that currently includes Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Emmy-winning actor Sterling K. Brown (Black Panther), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight) and Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), while The Expanse's Thomas Jane is in talks to join the 20th Century Fox sci-fi/action movie.
I don't know about you guys, but I think the cast is shaping up quite nicely.
So, who is Jacob Tremblay playing?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tremblay will "play the son of Holbrook's character, an ex-Marine who discovers the existence of fierce aliens but finds that no one believes they exist." The young son is apparently autistic and gets bullied at school, but his uncanny ability to learn languages will make him a key player in the fight against the Predators (plural) — meaning the kid will learn how to "speak Predator" so that they can communicate with the murderous alien hunters.
Alongside Boyd Holbrook’s ex-Marine, Sterling K. Brown will play "a government agent who jails Holbrook's ex-Marine character but later needs his help with the Predators," while Olivia Munn plays a scientist. Rhodes and Key are said to be fellow Marines of Holbrook's character.
Shane Black (who starred in 1987’s Predator alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger) is directing from a script co-written by himself and Fred Dekker, who wrote Night of the Creeps, The Monster Squad and RoboCop 3, as well as a couple of Star Trek: Enterprise episodes. Original Predator producers John Davis, Joel Silver and Lawrence Gordon are also on board to produce.
What do you think of all these new character and plot details of The Predator?
