James Gunn talks The Hulk, ROM: Spaceknight in impromptu Guardians 2 Q&A

Sure, he might be a big-shot director now, but James Gunn still runs his own Twitter account and often uses it to interact with the fans. His latest impromptu Q&A reveals a ton of nuggets about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, plus some other bits about the cast and crew.

Gunn fielded a ton of questions from fans about his eagerly anticipated sequel, and though he obviously couldn’t drop any major story beats, the director did touch on everything from the music to the expanded roster. First up, the soundtrack is pretty much locked, though he didn’t say which vintage pop tunes we’ll be jamming to in 2017. He also shot down rumors The Hulk could arrive in the Guardians sequel, en route to a Planet Hulk film. Sorry, folks.

He made a point to respond to Steven Spielberg's recent comments about the superhero genre, where Spielberg said we might eventually reach a tipping point akin to what happened with the western genre. Gunn's not sure himself, though it doesn't really matter, because he doesn't consider Guardians a superhero movie. Gunn also said he hopes to introduce more female heroes to the mix, though he doesn't want to short-change the existing team, so it'll take a balance.

Check out several entries from the Q&A below and let us know what you think:

As I've said many times it's one of my goals to get a higher % of female heroes (and villains) out there. So MAYBE. https://t.co/7IMkswlya1

I will comment on it now (as I've done before) - there is zero chance you will see Hulk in GotGVol2. https://t.co/C1jNd0ZyVb

Spectacle films need more independent vision (and heart) if movies are going to survive. https://t.co/LWDyllC8nZ

Yes, I have 12. And we are currently getting all the rights. https://t.co/oPJky4rGlG

I think Rocket and Star-Lord would kill those other two in less than a second. https://t.co/ySiVOvSFsN

Rom Spaceknight. Popeye. Snake Plissken. And Bat-Mite of course. https://t.co/qWQq96BnXz

For the time being, it's important to me that Quill is the sole human (earthling) character. https://t.co/BYt9av3rQy

Not too many, that's for sure! I want all of our characters to get MORE personal time than they did in the 1st film. https://t.co/P7TB9MsSYJ

I feel way LESS pressure. I don't wake up at 3 am panicked I'm dedicating my life to something no one will ever see. https://t.co/vUZmBUYFTb

After Rooker, my brother @seangunn. https://t.co/ew0yUX2IWG

No. I didn't know she was in that movie when I hired her (I still would have hired her by the way). https://t.co/RSjtnloRCj

Because I wanted to give people the last thing they expected? https://t.co/2Cfh6SBeZJ

I really want to tell you, but the Marvel hitmen would be knocking on your door any second if I did... https://t.co/HxRjtK9bGQ

That they'll eventually die out? He could be right, who knows. But, btw, I don't think of GotG as a superhero movie. https://t.co/zdAf9bSaC0

Very closely. We write music beforehand, and we play it on set while we shoot the scenes. He's writing now! https://t.co/uiZN1IiSys

Yes, as well as the role of Kraglin. https://t.co/VrM9ptnF8q

Groot or Drax. Probably Drax. He snores and he's not very clean. https://t.co/9WTbvgFseA

Iron Man. https://t.co/JC4QXmCiZR

No. My cat would despise being on set. My dog has fun acting. It's about what's good for them, not me. https://t.co/CdIdBU8Zfe

Well, @RobZombie has played a voice in every film I've directed, so I hope he'll be back! https://t.co/hqV4UZnaW0

I've never related to any character in my life as much as I do to Rocket. It's hard to choose another. https://t.co/MwYvHAX1Cm
