That Jason Momoa Conan movie due out next year has been titled simply that from the start—Conan. Maybe the producers were trying to avoid making audiences think it was a simple remake of the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger film. Maybe they were trying to avoid upsetting fans of the original. Whatever the reason was, Conan is no more.
According to Box Office Mojo, the movie, due to be released Aug. 19, 2011, is officialy going with the name it should have had all along—Conan the Barbarian.
Makes sense to us!
Conan the Barbarian is the guy who wants to crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentation of their women, while Conan is just that tall redheaded guy with a talk show. Considering the strength of the barbarian brand, the change was probably inevitable.
Think the producers made the right decision?
