A creepy new clip has been released from the Sam Raimi-produced horror flick The Possession, and it definitely pulls some classic Exorcist-style strings. Plus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural) plays freaked out very, very well.
The Jewish possession story is a new twist on the old genre, and this clip picks up with a young girl's father (Morgan) reading her a religious text. At least, he is until she makes him stop. It's tense and quiet, until it's not, and it should play as a great jump moment on the big screen.
For a refresher, here's the synopsis:
Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em's (Natasha Calis) behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.Check out the new clip below:
The Possession opens Aug. 31. Will you be watching?
