The latest trailer for Joel Edgerton’s horror movie It Comes at Night has arrived. The movie hails from A24, the studio that gave us The Witch and Green Room.
Directed and penned by Trey Edward Shults (Krisha), It Comes at Night follows a father (Joel Edgerton) who will stop at nothing to protect his family from a mysterious “civilization-destroying pandemic” that threatens them. The horror movie also stars Riley Keough (Mad Max: Fury Road), Christopher Abbott (A Most Violent Year), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (The Birth of a Nation) and Carmen Ejogo (Alien: Covenant).
The trailer channels fear and paranoia rather than true horror, and on top of that they seem to be keeping what “It” is pretty close to the vest (at least in the trailers). However, recent EW images give us a peek at the results of the plague, and you can have an up-close-and-personal look below. It also does a good job at establishing a truly claustrophobic atmosphere that should provide plenty of chills for fans of the genre. It Comes at Night will open on June 9.
A man (Joel Edgerton) learns that the evil stalking his family home may be only a prelude to horrors that come from within. Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, the tenuous domestic order he has established with his wife and son is put to the ultimate test with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge.
Despite the best intentions of both families, paranoia and mistrust boil over as the horrors outside creep ever closer, awakening something hidden and monstrous within him as he learns that the protection of his family comes at the cost of his soul.
