A brand-new Terminator Genisys trailer has been released online by Paramount this morning in the wake of an intense Twitter campaign in which fans were asked to use the hashtag #TerminatorUnlock in order to, well ... unlock the trailer. And you can bet it didn’t take long before fans had this baby unleashed.
The second official trailer boasts quite a bit of humor and a lot of brand-new, jaw-dropping scenes, including the "genisys" (see what I did there?) of Skynet’s attack on humanity. We also get to see a lot more of Sarah Connor’s (Emilia Clarke) son, John Connor (Jason Clarke) -- or do we? Here’s an official movie synopsis:
When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…

I think I’m going to love Arnie’s older T-800, and I'm glad they found a way to include the former Governator in the new Terminator movie that feels organic. That confrontation with Ahnold's Terminator from the original James Cameron flick looks like it's (hopefully) going to be epic. The only bummer? There’s still no sign of Matt Smith. But what about that (spoilers) twist, turning Jason Clarke's John Connor into a villain? Do you think it's a good direction for the movie to go?
Ahnold will be back in Terminator Genisys on July 1, 2015.
