Jughead: The Hunger to become ongoing comic this Halloween

Earlier this year, Archie Comics released a very cool one-shot comic titled Jughead: The Hunger, which reimagined Jughead as a bloodthirsty werewolf.

Well, if you loved the story, you’ll be excited to learn that plans for an ongoing series are in motion, with the first issue slated to arrive in comic book stores right on time for Halloween.

Written by Frank Tieri (The Hangman, Wolverine) and illustrated by artists Pat and Tim Kennedy (The Death of Archie), Jughead: The Hunger will be a continuation of the supernatural adventures of hungry teenage werewolf Jughead Jones. Check out the synopsis:

Jughead Jones is a werewolf, and Reggie Mantle has fallen victim to Jughead’s monstrous ways. Now Betty Cooper: Werewolf Hunter, along with Archie Andrews, is hot on the trail of Jughead.

Here’s what Tieri said in the official press release:

“We purposely left the door open with the one shot; we told you if you made Jughead: The Hunger a hit, we’d make more — and since you more than held up your end of the bargain — here we are. ... Fans can expect more of everything they loved about the one shot now as we expand our universe — more werewolf Juggie, more bad-ass Betty, more conflicted Archie, and more twists and turns than you can shake a severed arm at.”

Jughead: The Hunger will kick off with issue #1 on October 25, and will be available in comic stores and digital platforms. In the meanwhile, check out some penciled interior art for the forthcoming issue, as well as some awesome cover art by Francesco Francavilla, Robert Hack and Michael Walsh.
