Taking a quick jaunt back to 1951 to remember one of the greats, it was on this day in sci-fi history that Robin Williams was born.

There’s a lot of his sci-fi to go around, but let's start with Mork, who was originally a side character on Happy Days but spun off into his own series. With Mindy. This episode also has Jonathan Winters as an enormous man-baby and is genius:

Williams also played Peter Pan in Hook (1991):

He voiced the genie in Aladdin (1992):

He was full-tilt Terry Gilliam crazy as The King of the Moon in The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1989):

And he sang this strangely inspiring Harry Nilsson song in Popeye (1980):

Williams was in plenty of other science fiction films: Toys, Bicentennial Man, and, wow, a lot more, actually. The point is we miss Robin Williams and wanted to pause and celebrate his contributions.

Quick side note: The Trans-Siberian Railroad was completed on this day in 1904.

And all that makes us think of is Snowpiercer.:

Tomorrow: The Island and Plan 9!
