We don't cover sports here at Blastr, but Super Bowl Weekend always catches our eye. The annual NFL spectacle features one of the biggest sporting events of the year, yes, but it also features plenty of opportunities for marketing teams to grab the attention of a massive TV audience, and that means plenty of new TV spots for blockbusters we can't wait to see. When it comes to new genre trailers, Super Bowl XLIX definitely delivered, offering up new looks at everything from Jurassic World to Tomorrowland to NBC's revival miniseres Heroes Reborn.
Check out all the genre trailers from this year's Big Game below.
Even among all the other trailers that aired during the Super Bowl, Jurassic World's stood out. We've already seen a full-length trailer for the film, but the big game spot featured plenty of new footage, including Chris Pratt working to train some Raptors, a pterodactyl attack and plenty of new glimpses of the monstrous new dinosaur that seems to be the film's main threat.
Still one of the most mysterious films of 2015, Disney's Tomorrowland, from Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof, shed a little more light on its premise during the big game, with new glimpses at the titular world and a spectacular rocket liftoff.
The latest film from Pixar Animation Studios rolled out some new footage not during the Super Bowl, but during the always-adorable Puppy Bowl. This footage gives us a little more insight into the emotion-based characters at the heart of the film, particularly Amy Poehler's Joy.
Kingsman: The Secret Service
We're now less than two weeks away from seeing Kingsman, and that means the film's Super Bowl spot featured not only some intense footage, but also some early reviews of the superspy action flick from X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn.
The Divergent Series: Insurgent
This spot for the Divergent sequel showed up several days before the game and aired during the pregame show, but if you still haven't seen it, check out for some intense footage with more than a little Matrix inspiration.
This spot also dropped well before the game happened, but it's worth checking out again if only for another look at Arnold Schwarzenegger's newly aged T-800 being awesome.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2
We don't get much footage in this spot from the Hot Tub Time Machine sequel, but what we do get capitalizes on one of the major storylines leading up to the Super Bowl: the New England Patriots' "Deflategate" scandal.
Spongebob: Sponge Out of Water
Yes, the absorbent and yellow and porous creature known as Spongebob Squarepants is still around, and he got a Super Bowl spot to plug his new movie, which features Spongebob and all of his friends visiting the human world in a mix of live action and animation.
The adorable yellow critters from Despicable Me get their own movie this year, and if this spot is any indication, it focuses a lot on their refusal to wear clothes anymore.
After what seems like an eternity of delays, this fantasy film is finally out this week, and the Super Bowl spot brought plenty of epic footage to viewers.
Seth MacFarlane's story about a man and his talking teddy bear continues this summer, and the film capitalized on Super Bowl mania with a spot featuring New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
On the TV side of things, NBC unveiled a very brief but very intriguing teaser for Heroes Reborn, featuring the return of Jack Coleman as Noah Bennet and the debut of Zachary Levi as a still-unknown character.
