The blockbuster Hunger Games saga comes to an end this winter, and we have a fresh clip showing Katniss’ (Jennifer Lawrence) new marching orders.
The scene focuses on Katniss and her team, last seen putting together propaganda in the first half of Mockingjay, getting some new marching orders as the faceoff with the Capitol finally comes to a head. Sadly, at least according to this new footage, Katniss’ gang will not be directly in the battlefield. As we heard in the last film, Katniss is more valuable as a symbol, and they don’t want to risk that symbol getting axed.
Of course, anyone who has seen the trailers knows the lovely Ms. Everdeen eventually finds her way into the Capitol battlefield, which is modeled after the elaborate traps and games that have been a hallmark of The Hunger Games (both the film series and the in-canon games). As with the last film, Katniss’ crew includes Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin), Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), Cressida (Natalie Dormer), Boggs (Mahershala Ali) and Lieutenant Jackson (Michelle Forbes).
The first part of Mockingjay was good but proved to be a slow burn. We’re hoping Mockingjay Part II can finally pay it all off.
