It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Amazon’s planned Tremors TV series, but executive producer Kevin Bacon — who will also star — had some great news to share.

Even though he’s currently starring on Amazon’s I Love Dick, Bacon said that yes, they are still working on the (again, planned) 10-episode Tremors series. The Golden Globe winner confirmed the awesome news via a recent reddit AMA for I Love Dick fans.

When he was asked if he would like to see or star in a Tremors remake, Bacon simply answered: “We are working on that!”

As some of you may know, Bacon is set to return to the town of Perfection, Nevada, in the role of Valentine McKee. Even though we’re now up to a sixth Tremors film (most of the sequels star Michael Gross in his iconic role of gun aficionado Burt Gummer), this will be the first time Bacon will reprise the role since the original 1990 movie.

Showrunner Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle) indicated last year that the new TV show will ignore the sequels. Here’s how he described Valentine McKee for the Amazon series:

“The Kevin Bacon character is now 25 years older, a horrible loser in this town that had a brief moment of glory in the 80s or 90s and is now worse off than it was before. The town is coming face to face with failure. It’s also a Donald Trump story in that it’s the notion of nostalgia as a drug that’s killing us and looking back on a time – the longer you look at that time in the mirror without accepting reality, these monsters start to grow beneath the surface. In this case it’s these worms that are literally growing beneath the surface. People are trying to get over these traumas and both empower themselves and put themselves in great danger. I think we’re not processing trauma as healthily right now as we could be. I find myself not processing trauma as well as I ought to be and feel like I’m the star of my own horror movie sometimes.”

Although Kevin Bacon’s comment is somewhat reassuring (I mean, at least we know the Tremors TV series is still in development at Amazon, which is a good thing), we’re still probably a good way away from a series premiere. In the meanwhile Tremors 6, starring Michael Gross, is set for a January 30, 2018, release on VOD.
