Kick off Stranger Things 2 the illest way possible with rap tribute album

There’s been a lot of Stranger Things tributing going on lately, what with Season 2 finally available for “binge-racing,” but you’ll be hard-pressed to find any fanfare quite as dope as Mega Ran’s Strangers EP below.

To prepare you for Season 2, the rapper drops mad science about the strange events that went down in Hawkins, Indiana, in 1983, “the story of four friends and how they move forward in a world that’s been twisted and distorted.”

Complete with quotes aplenty from the Netflix hit, the catchy EP is produced by Isidor, DEADLIFE, and Lynx Kinetic, and mixed by Michael Gamarano. After rapping the show’s initial set-up, Mega Ran deftly dives into character-based tracks based on Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Eleven, Hopper, and even Will, though there’s admittedly not much to say about our poor little abductee.

Still, the rest of the tracks on the EP, which he calls a "synthwave-rap tape" go deep into the characters we know and love, replete with fluid rhymes and funky beats. If you love spending time with these beloved characters, which Mega Ran obviously does, it’s perfect for riding in the car as you race home this evening to go spend some QT with the gang from Hawkins. (And it’s short, too, so if you need more driving-home music, check out each character’s individually crafted Spotify playlist, too.)

Obviously Mega Ran is a man with an appetite for the finer things, as far as entertainment goes. If you do a little digging on Mega Ran’s SoundCloud page, you’ll also find some more genre-based raps, including a tribute to Marvel’s The Defenders and his “10 Gamer Commandments.

Enjoy the tracks, then let us know which one you think should be the single.
