Kneel before Neill Blomkamp’s stunning CGI sci-fi short Praetoria

Neill Blomkamp's Oats Studios has unveiled its latest sci-fi short, titled Praeotoria, which boasts a mysterious warrior in a badass robotic suit of armor (think Darth Vader mixed in with the Jaegers from Pacific Rim) and an equally badass sword.

The Chappie and District 9 director teases that Praetoria is actually a glimpse at “a huge galactic story,” and that this short flick is really Oats Studios testing the waters. Meaning: If this short does well, we may get a longer movie out of this.

The visually stunning CGI story follows a troubled character named General Krisch, who is on an “intergalactic mission” to acquire as much gold as possible and will stop at nothing (which may or may not include killing women and children). Krisch is obviously struggling with his inner demons, as evidenced by the fact that he’s haunted by the voice of a woman haunting his past: “You butcher, you monster” and “You will never be forgiven for this, do you hear me? Never. Never!”

Once again, Blomkamp and Oats Studios have surpassed themselves with Praetoria, and this short is definitely a great hook for a longer story. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of the mysterious General Krisch down the line. Dig into the new sci-fi short, and let us know what you think:
