History channel’s Knightfall explores the fall of the Knights Templar and their devotion to the holy relics (such as The Holy Grail), the brotherhood of the Templar, as well as the tug-of-war relationship between Pope Boniface VIII (Jim Carter) and King Philip IV of France (Ed Stoppard). With the Knights such as Landry (Tom Cullen) hot on the trail of the Grail, which they believe to be in France, the political backdrop continues to play out.

It’s a powder keg of medieval action, strategic struggles, and a little bit of fantasy to pull you along — and SYFY WIRE has an exclusive sneak peek at what lies ahead.

After already using Princess Isabella (Sabrina Bartlett) as a strategic chess piece, the Pope chose to give his approval of a marriage to Catalonia as opposed to England, which has made the Councillor to Philip IV, Guillaume de Nogaret (Julian Ovenden), upset at the potential loss in power. Now needing the support of Catalonia at their side in a potential war with England, de Nogaret requests support from the Catalonians (Enrique Arce and Marcoz Franz), but the two factions don't see eye to eye about jumping into any kind of conflict with the English.
