It won't be long until the Superman prequel Krypton reveals itself in all of its cosmic glory, but if you're just too excited to wait, we have some exclusive character portraits that are sure to brighten your area of the galaxy.
The new SYFY show, which debuts in March, will be set a couple of generations before Kal-El was a twinkle in his father's eye, but the House of El will still be central to the show's drama. Though the family with the "S"-shaped crest will provide the show's foundations, other Kryptonian houses will be represented as well — namely, the houses of Em, Vex, and Zod.
Superman is still the show's baseline, however, so the House of El is where we'll start. Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), is the Man of Steel's grandfather, and not only will he have to deal with the politics of the others houses, he'll have to manage a visit from intergalactic interloper Adam Strange as well. He certainly seems to have his future grandson's strength represented below in his balled-up fists, and we feel like he's ready to "fight like El" for what he believes in.
Though it may feature a graffiti effect, the next poster's law-making character most likely wouldn't allow such things. Nyssa-Vex (Wallis Day) is the youngest of her house, and she is as brilliant with politics as she is with the law. Thankfully she is friends with Seg-El, which is a good thing — we imagine he'll need all the help he can get. That said, the poster's tagline of "The Vex factor" makes us think that she could be a wild card in the show's proceedings.
Another pivotal house will be that of Em, represented by Dev-Em (Aaron Pierre). Described by SYFY as a "Sagitari who has always relished his role as a protector," he is set to have a rivalry with Seg-El due to some jealousy that we will cover in a moment. He may not turn out to be the main antagonist, but he certainly looks like a force to be reckoned with one way or another.
Now then, what might cause the jealousy between Em and El? Dev-Em has loved someone that his house happens to be bound to ever since he was very young, and the woman in question is set to possibly get very close to Seg-El. She is Lyta-Zod (Georgina Campbell) from the House of Zod — yes, that Zod. It's a Superman prequel, did you really think they wouldn't include the Zods? Perish the thought! Behold her poster, and yes, KNEEL!
According to SYFY, Lyta-Zod is "torn between proving herself worthy of the Zod name and her innate desire to help and heal the people of Krypton." We imagine that the former desire would bind her to the Zod-loyal House of Em, but the latter seems like it would be more in line with the House of El's ideals. How Nyssa-Vex will factor into all of this is, once again, anybody's guess.
Are you excited to see if these four houses will play nice with one other? Tune in to SYFY on March 21 to find out.
In the meantime, what are your predictions? Might the houses of El and Zod have a connection that we never really knew about? Will Nyssa-Vex triumph over all of them? Let us KNEEL, sorry, know, in the comments!
