As if there was ever any doubt, the latest teaser trailer for The X-Files revival season puts the focus directly on the alien mysteries that were the crux of the show’s mythology.
The trailer includes some fresh footage and dialogue, though series creator Chris Carter continues to play things very close to the vest in regard to the exact storyline. This trailer includes hints about the government hiding alien technology, and Mulder (David Duchovny) himself asking the big question: “Are we truly alone?” The answer, in case you’re wondering, is almost certainly “No.”
As Carter & Co. have previously said, we can expect the six-episode revival to focus on some standalone cases, as well as the major mythology that was left largely unresolved when the series originally ended back in 2002. The 2008 follow-up film, I Want to Believe, focused on a standalone case that never really provided any answers to the show’s big questions. So, in regard to the mythology episodes, there’s ample territory to mine.
