Ares Games has created some of the best tabletop games in recent memory, including Wings of Glory, Sails of Glory, and the Star Wars-themed X-Wing. They now have their sights set on Battlestar Galactica... and they have a plan.
According to the Ares Games website, the company is set to publish and distribute a new starship combat miniature game based on the insanely popular television series, called Battlestar Galactica: Starship Battles. The game will include elements from the classic show as well as the reboot.
It's set to be unveiled at Gen Con 2018 (August 2-5 in Indianapolis), and that's where potential Viper pilots will be able to get a first look. No formal release date has been announced yet.
According to Ares, the game will feature "ready to play, painted and assembled miniatures, with a special base to support its unique game mechanics." Gamers will control either Colonial or Cylon ships, facing off against each other in "furious dogfights and many other different kinds of missions."The reboot of Battlestar Galactica featured many "war room" scenes of Admiral Adama and crew strategically moving little ships around a map, so the prospect of doing this in real life is actually pretty exciting. There is no word yet whether the "different kinds of missions" they refer to involve the insane inner life of Dr. Gaius Baltar, but one can hope.
As we said, no release date has been announced... but here's hoping it's soon. We can't wait to get our hands on this. So say we all! What, did you think we weren't gonna pull that one out? SO SAY WE ALL!
