James Gunn has been teasing something truly insane for his after-credit scene in Guardians of the Galaxy, and if this leaked clip is real, he’s truly outdone himself. Seriously.
Beware of potential spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy!
Still here? A leaked clip allegedly recorded during a preview screening of the film has popped up online, showing a truly bizarre bit of footage that may or may not be the “pure joy” after-credit scene that Gunn has been hinting toward the past several months. If it is, we could definitely understand the description.
Fair warning before you go in, though. The quality is sub-par, and there’s a guy screaming and having what sounds possibly like a very awkward orgasm in the background ... but the footage is still quite legible.
We won’t spoil it before you watch, so check it out below:
Yeah. Go ahead and watch it again. That’s right, the footage apparently shows Benicio Del Toro’s beaten Collector with (what appears to be) Cosmo the dog licking his wounds. But who else is he talking to? Howard the Duck, one of Marvel’s long-forgotten characters that we honestly thought would never pop up again. But this is a film with a talking raccoon and warrior tree, so it’s about the only place a WTF cameo from Howard might actually fit.
We’ll go ahead and throw in the disclaimer that there is some pushback as to the legitimacy of the clip, with some folks even saying Marvel might’ve purposefully leaked the footage as a fakeout (since the after-credit scenes were not included in press screenings).
What do you think? Is this legit?
