DC's Legends of Tomorrow wrapped up its excellent third season with some cast upheavals; including Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) leaving Nate (Nick Zano) and the Waverider behind to return to her Zambesi village in 1942, and Rip (Arthur Darvill) sacrificing himself in the fight against Mallus. Despite appearances, that’s not the end of the story for those two Legends.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly’s SiriusXM radio show Superhero Insider, executive producer Marc Guggenheim opened up about Amaya’s return in Season 4 (for those who feared this was the last we saw of the character, Richardson-Sellers will be back as a series regular) and the possibility of seeing Rip again — despite his apparent demise.

“Yes, Maisie will absolutely be back,” Guggenheim said about Amaya’s return. “We just felt like we owed it to the character to complete this arc, complete this story loop that we got her in. Once we took her off of her path in 1942, it was always incumbent upon us to return her to that path. That was something that hung over us as writers, and hung over the character… I’m looking forward to a different storyline for Amaya next year. We’ll reveal our plans for Maisie’s character at Comic-Con this year.”

Now that sounds rather intriguing. Maybe the Legends will pick Amaya up again after she’s had her daughter Esi (because without Esi there would be no Mari and Kuasa). Since she’s already saved her village and averted her own death in one fell swoop, that issue will no longer be what drives her storyline, opening up some welcome new possibilities for the character.

As for Rip, there's a good chance we haven seen the last of the former Time Master and founder of the Time Bureau.

“We love Arthur, we love having Arthur on the show, and I think Arthur enjoys being on the show,” Guggenheim said about possibly seeing Rip again on The CW superhero series. “Because it’s a time travel show, and because we never saw a body, anything is possible. I think Arthur is totally willing to come back and play with us if we have a cool idea.”

Are you looking forward to a new storyline for Amaya when Legends of Tomorrow returns for Season 4? Do you believe Rip survived his encounter with Mallus, or do you think we'll be seeing the character again from another point in time like they did with Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold?
