Finally! PlayStation has released the first official trailer for Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV featuring the English voice cast.
The CGI movie serves as a prequel to Square Enix’s upcoming Final Fantasy XV game which will hit store shelves on Sept. 30. Originally, the movie wasn’t meant to be shown on the big screen but it’ll now be released in select movie theaters on Aug. 19 before becoming available in the PlayStation store on Aug. 30. You can also grab a physical copy on Blu-ray and DVD on Oct. 4, but if you’re a huge fan of Final Fantasy or anything fantasy-related, Kingsglaive is definitely a must-see on the big screen. It looks simply stunning.
Kingsglaive features the voice acting talents of Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey as Princess Luna and Sean Bean as King Regis. Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul plays a soldier named Nyx, the main hero of the piece. As you can see below, the movie from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Square Enix mixes the modern and the medieval to create the kingdom of Lucis.
The magical kingdom of Lucis is home to the world’s last remaining Crystal, and the menacing empire of Niflheim is determined to steal it. King Regis of Lucis commands an elite force of soldiers called the Kingsglaive. Wielding their king’s magic, they fight to protect Lucis. As the overwhelming military might of the empire bears down, King Regis is faced with an impossible ultimatum – to marry his son, Prince Noctis to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae, captive of Niflheim, and surrender his lands to Niflheim rule. Although the king concedes, it becomes clear that the empire will stop at nothing to achieve their devious goals, with only the Kingsglaive standing between them and world domination.
