We finally know where the third season of Young Justice will air, and it’s bringing a live-action Titans series with it.
Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are preparing to launch a new streaming service that will be led by a live-action Titans series and the third season of Young Justice, titled Outsiders. The shows are set to debut in 2018. Both shows are in the early stages of production and will air on the DC streaming service, which will also go live in 2018. No word on other programming as of yet, but these are certainly two shows that could serve as a flagship to get fans interested.
Much like the comics, Titans will follow a group of young adult heroes led by Dick Grayson, and the line-up is confirmed to include Starfire and Raven. A live-action Titans project has been kicking around development for a while now, and in the streaming service, it looks like Warner Bros. finally found a formula that works. The series is being written by Greg Berlanti (Arrow), Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery) and DC’s Geoff Johns. No word on whether it will connect to the Arrowverse, but having Berlanti involved is certainly an interesting piece of the puzzle.
Young Justice: Outsiders will pick up where the acclaimed animated series left off, with the team taking on meta-human trafficking and the “terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.” Fans have been clamoring for the show to return ever since Cartoon Network pulled the plug, and it should be an excellent complement to a Titans project.
What do you think of DC’s plans? Will you pay for a new streaming service to check out these shows?
