When last we left Trevor Belmont on Netflix’s beautifully animated adaptation of the Konami Castlevania video game, he was fighting a “floating vampire Jesus” who turned out to be Alucard, the son of Dracula himself. Belmont, Alucard, and magician Sypha Belnades teamed up to go kick Dad’s ass because it’s what "Mother would have wanted," and … that was it.
Fans have been waiting six months to find out when and how they’ll see the next chapter, and lo and behold, Christmas came just a little late as Warren Ellis, the series’ impeccable writer, just finally spilled the beans he seems to have thought were spilled already: Expect Castlevania to triple in size: Eight new episodes are to come this very summer.
Can Gretis be saved? Will we finally meet Castlevania III’s Grant DaNasty, the pirate with perhaps the most swaggering pirate name of all time, who’s so far been missing from the Netflix series? We think so on both accounts, and I sincerely hope we arrrr right.
