With less than a month to go before the premiere of The LEGO Batman Movie, Warner Bros. is showing no signs of slowing down the promo train as they've unleashed not one but two new TV spots.
The first promo hints at a possible romance (LEGO Movie-style, of course) between Bruce Wayne and Barbara Gordon, and we get to see our hero literally fall in love with Gotham City's new commissioner. Not sure how this is going to work, as she seems totally oblivious to the charm of everyone's favorite lonely billionaire playboy and his Dark Knight alter ego.
The second promo reveals what a superhero does in his spare time. [Hint: cook one's own dinner in a microwave.]
The LEGO Batman Movie is helmed by Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) from a script co-written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride & Prejudice & Zombies) and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers (Spider-Man: Homecoming). The movie assembles a stellar cast that includes Will Arnett as Batman, Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn, Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face (yes!), Mariah Carey as Gotham City Mayor McCaskill and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker.
In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker's hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
The LEGO Batman Movie will arrive in theaters on Feb. 10.
