You’d have to be crazy to think Marvel wouldn’t capitalize on the Luke Cage love from Jessica Jones (not to mention his solo TV series currently in the works), and now we’re getting a retro comic revival of Heroes for Hire.
Marvel Comics has announced that Power Man and Iron First No. 1 will hit comic shelves in February, with a new ongoing series from writer David Walker and artist Sanford Greene. The comic will focus on Luke Cage and Danny Rand, billed as “Marvel’s original bromance,” as they reunite to take on all sorts of street-level foes. Considering how much success Marvel is having with the street-level TV universe (along with the solid Daredevil comic run at the moment), a Heroes for Hire revival seems like a natural fit.
Here’s an excerpt from the official synopsis:
The years may have caused this titanic twosome to drift apart, but when an old friend comes to them in need, the boys are back! Old friends, new enemies, hired goons, crime lords, weird magic, plenty of power, a flurry of fists and more bromance than you can handle await inside, True Believer!
Marvel has also dropped several variant covers and preview pages from the new ‘book. Greene's art has that perfect pulpy retro feel that really gives this project a unique style. Check those out below and let us know what you think:
