After the success of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, director Marc Webb and company knew they were likely kicking off a franchise when they started work on Amazing Spider-Man. So they made sure to sneak in a few easter eggs to set up the sequels. Want to know where to look to find 'em?
With the film hitting DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow, the team behind the film sat down with Entertainment Tonight to talk about the process—and give us some hints for where to look when we watch the film at home.
Senior Visual Effects Supervisor Jerome Chen recommended we look a little closer at Gwen's Oscorp tour: "I'll give you a clue—there's a scene where Gwen is in the Oscorp lab giving a tour to a series of students, and there could be easter eggs in there."
Animation Supervisor David Schaub also advised we take a very close look at the ending: "In the very last shot of the film where [Spider-Man] is swinging, gets himself shot out of the crane and he's flying down past the George Washington Bridge and he strikes a pose, there's an easter egg—but I can't tell you any more than that—for something to come."
Anybody been able to take a closer look at those scenes to see what they're getting at?
Webb also talked about the vibe he's aiming for with Amazing Spider-Man 2, which we've all heard by now could feature Jamie Foxx as big bad Electro. The sequel will apparently be "electrifying."
Smooth, Webb. Very smooth:
"There's a lot of pressure coming [Peter Parker's] way, and we'll see how he handles it. ... The last movie, Peter's sort of discovering his powers and he's getting gradually better. Peter, in the next movie, is going to be a virtuoso. Spider-Man, from the outset, is a pro. He's an expert, and he's having a blast, and he is just electrifying in terms of his abilities as Spider-Man. That's going to be really fun. I'm really looking forward to a lot of those sequences."Check out the full interview with Webb and company below:
Have you spotted any of these easter eggs?
