Mark Hamill had a second, secret role in The Last Jedi

By Josh Weiss

It may seem like Mark Hamill had a lot on his plate while playing a jaded and cynical version of Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi. But that apparently wasn't enough for the 66-year-old actor.

Spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Last Jedi!

Along with his role as Luke Skywalker, Hamill was also credited as the mysterious Dobbu Scay. Which, as we now all know, Hamill is definitely capable of being in two places at once.

According to a Q&A he did with Entertainment Weekly, the character can be glimpsed somewhere during the Canto Bight casino scenes.

“I said I’d love to do a CGI thing, and [Rian Johnson] said sure,” he said. “And I got to go to the set of the casino and see in detail [200] extras in jaw-dropping costumes.”

Apart from that, he wouldn't give up specifics on who Scay is, preferring to wait for fans to scour the scenes and find out for themselves. However, one piece of IMDb trivia alleges that he is the petite CG alien who mistakes BB-8 for a casino game and continues to place coins in the droid's slot.

Whether that's true or not, the name of Dobbu Scay is a real anagram for the movie's editor, Bob Duscay (The MummyVan Helsing). Using Duscay's name was the idea of Lucasfilm story group member Pablo Hidalgo, but it was a surprise to Hamill.

"I thought he just shook up some Scrabble tiles and threw them on a table,” he said. "Let’s come up with a name goofier than [Count] Dooku!”
